AUR hosted its annual food conference on October 14, 2016. Attendees from countries around Europe and representing a diverse selection of disciplines gathered to spend the day discussing this year’s theme, Democratizing Food Governance.
KRISTINE SIEGEL is co-director of Bergen Biennale 2016 and co-founded PRAXES Center for Contemporary Art in Berlin in 2013. Prior to this, she worked as Program Director at ISCP, New York, at Museum of Modern Art, New York, the Tirana Biennale, Albania, and for Dennis Oppenheim Studio, New York.
It takes its title from the ICOMOS initiative of 2008 that recognized that every place has its own unique character whose heritage embodies not just buildings, art and material objects, but also memories, beliefs and places of significance for the contemporary population.
“We filmed in the Circus Maximus and my part was to talk about how the fire of Rome started. Although the final clip used is very short it took hours to film. We were plagued by police sirens, screeching car brakes, helicopters flying overhead and people straying into shot.
